Updated: 13th March 2026
This privacy notice explains how GreaseClaw handles data in its two usage modes: standalone local use and optional server-backed features.
You can use the GreaseClaw extension independently without using any server-side functionality. In that mode, your browsing activity and extension data remain on your device, except when you choose to send information to a third-party service yourself, such as an AI provider.
If you have any questions or want to exercise any of your rights set out in this privacy notice, please contact us at admin@yitrust.com.
About us
We are Beijing Yishu Technology Co., Ltd. (北京溢数科技有限公司). Our registered office is at Room 808, Building 20, Anzhenli First District, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. We can be contacted by email at admin@yitrust.com.
What this notice covers
This privacy policy covers the GreaseClaw extension and any optional services provided with it. The extension does not require a server connection to operate. You may use its local features without creating an account, syncing data, or sending data to our servers. Server-side processing occurs only when you choose to use a feature that requires it.
Why we collect data
In standalone local mode, GreaseClaw does not need to collect your browsing activity or extension data on our servers. If you choose to provide information such as your name or email address, we may use it to communicate with you about GreaseClaw and its development. Additional data may be processed when you explicitly enable an optional server-backed feature.
The data we collect
Depending on the features you choose to use, we may collect your name, email address, and product engagement information, such as when you create workspaces, open pages, or view modals. These details are not required for standalone local use.
In standalone local mode, all browsing and workspace data, including history, cookies, visited website URLs, and workspace names, is stored locally on your computer. We do not receive or track this information unless you explicitly choose a feature that sends it to a server or a third-party provider.
Cloud syncing
Server-backed features are optional. For example, you may choose to activate cloud syncing so your GreaseClaw session is available across different devices. Cloud syncing is deactivated by default, and no data is sent to our servers for syncing until you enable it.
If you choose to activate cloud syncing or another server-backed feature, the data required for that feature, which may include web-activity data such as history, cookies, visited website URLs, and workspace names, will be transmitted to and stored safely and encrypted in GreaseClaw's servers.
This data is used only to provide the server-backed feature you selected, such as restoring your session. These servers are powered by AWS (Amazon Web Services).
You may delete your data at any point by emailing us at admin@yitrust.com.
Third-party AI and LLM providers
GreaseClaw integrates with third-party AI and large language model (LLM) providers to power features such as the AI agent, chat, and split-view. These providers may include, but are not limited to, Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google (Gemini), Moonshot (Kimi), Fireworks, and others.
Default provider. GreaseClaw may include a default AI provider at no additional cost to you. When you use the default provider, your prompts, messages, and any data you share with the AI feature are sent to that provider's servers. Your use of the default provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms of service, not solely by this privacy policy. GreaseClaw does not control how third-party providers collect, store, process, or use data sent to their services. Some providers may log prompts, use data for model training, or retain data according to their own policies.
Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK). For maximum privacy and control, we strongly recommend using your own API key from the AI provider of your choice. When you bring your own API key, your prompts and data are sent directly from GreaseClaw to the provider under your own API agreement with that provider. GreaseClaw does not intercept, store, or log the content of your prompts or AI responses in either case.
What GreaseClaw does and does not do. GreaseClaw acts as a client that transmits your requests to the AI provider you select. We do not:
Your responsibility. We encourage you to review the privacy policy and terms of service of any AI provider you use through GreaseClaw. If privacy is a primary concern, bringing your own API key and selecting a provider whose privacy terms meet your needs is the best option. You can also use a locally-hosted model (such as Ollama or LM Studio), in which case no data leaves your device.
Global transfer and processing
Your personal information may be stored and processed in any country where we operate, or where other companies provide services to us. By submitting your personal information, you're agreeing to let us store it in, and transfer it to these countries.
